Well not a 'great' execution of a good idea (IMO), but great for me as I do not feel any regret about skipping another what I see as a lackluster series. If LEGO wanted my money, they would have been all classic era type Space 'guys' with solid colors, or even futuron based. They've been showing up at just about every major chain that carries them locally, so I bought what should be an untouched case on the 16th. Last week, I found a 30/36 case and bought the whole thing before finding another store that had pegged what looked like two full cases.

Now I see detailed images of them all I must say I'm not inclined to buy any of them. This minifigure recreates the colours and general design of the original astronauts, albeit with dual-moulded legs, slightly greater detail on the torso and a more complex helmet.
